Balasore, also referred as Baleshwar, is a city in the East Indian state of Orissa, located strategically around 194 km (121 miles) north of the state capital Bhubaneswar. Known for forests and mines, Balasore is referred as 'The city of Land on Sea Shore' or 'City of Sand'.

Balasore is famous for its forests and mines. Famous for Chandipur beach, the destination is known for numerous places of natural and architectural gorgeousness. The site of the Indian Ballistic Missile Defense Program's Integrated Test Range is lying 18 km south of Balasore. Several missiles including Nag, Brahmos and Agni, etc., have been developed from here by the Defence Research and Development Organisation.
