Chandipur Sea Beach

Chandipur - Chandipur-on-sea / the silvery moon

Chandipur, also referred as Chandipur-on-sea, is a small sea beach lying on the Bay of Bengal, in the Baleswar District of the East Indian state of Orissa. A gorgeous and isolated seaside beach, Chandipur is a delightful spot amidst the silver sand and green casuarina groves.

The uniqueness of the Chandipur-on-sea lies in the water receding 1 km to 4 km during low tide just to return to high tide. Its unique circumstances help beach support the bio-diversity. When the sea floats back slowly to the coastline, you get enough time to gather the mementos of red starfishes, seashells and drift wood. Horseshoe crab is found at the confluence of the River Budhabalanga.

The Indian Army's Integrated Test Range (ITR) is done at Chandipur-on-sea. ITR so far has launched several missiles including the nuclear-capable Akash, Shaurya, Agni and Prithvi ballistic missiles.

A visit to the amazing Chandipur-on-sea gives you total rejuvenation of your mind and body, and you feel healed from all the pains of the outside world.

Travelling up to Baleswar Railway Station, 16 km away from Chandipur, the destination can then be reached by bus through National Highway 5 (NH-5). Most of the Baleswar trains also stop in Chandipur.
