Jeypore - the city of victory

Jeypore, the largest town in the Koraput District of the East Indian state of Orissa, is considered as the most important tourist places like Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Balasore and Berhampur, etc. Enclosed by hills of the Eastern Ghats and the renowned Araku hills on three sides like a horse shoe and its western part opening up to the central Indian state of Chattisgarh, the region is the business centre not only for the district but for entire South Orissa.

The ancient town of Jeypore has a fine contribution in the history of Orissa. Surrounded by forests with mostly Sal (Dalbergia Latifolia) and teak (Tectona Grandis) trees, the town possesses some natural and architectural wonders. Being the erstwhile capital of the local king, Jeypore possesses many ancient forts, temples and other palaces. Oriya is the main language spoken here, although you can find here Telugu and Hindi speaking people as well, displaying a cultural blend in the region. A cultural mix of East and South India is apparent in Jeypore that is located amidst the southwest point of Orissa, providing the region a distinguished cuisine, language and lifestyle of people.

Jeypore’s own airport is non-operational but you can approach the destination through the nearest functional Vishakapatnam Airport, 221 km far. The place is also connected to the major cities in the region through rail and road networks.
